The 5th Annual National Day of Racial Healing (NDORH), Tuesday, January 19, is a day for Chicagoans to come together in unity and solidarity with the youth movement for racial justice and to collectively heal. NDORH 2021 is a free, immersive, virtual event that promotes cultural healing practices and multi-cultural drumming performances to guide and set the tone for Racial Healing Circles. Action groups will be formed to foster alliances among participants to support the youth movement to repair the harm caused by racist systems, policies and practices against Black, Native and Brown people.

ARE YOU in Solidarity with the movement for racial justice?

Didn't register for NDORH? We have a non-interactive version of the day available open to everyone! Tune in to NDORH live via our FaceBook page. We'll be streaming on January 19th from 10:00 - 10:30 CT / 12:00 - 1:00 CT / 2:00 - 2:30 CT

It’s been almost 300 days since Chicago shut down in March to fight a pandemic, to witness health inequities up close and to watch national racial reckoning fueled by a courageous youth movement. We’ve spent nearly 7,000 hours internalizing worry, hurt and trauma.

The  theme for NDORH 2021 is To the Beat of One Drum. The history of the drum represents the rhythm of the heartspace that unifies us throughout the human diaspora. When we move collectively to the beat of the drum, we create beautiful synergy, empowering ourselves to true personal, cultural, communal and, ultimately, institutional transformation.

The Solidarity Heals movement has worked with hundreds of Chicagoans to lay the groundwork for NDORH 2021. It is inspired by the leadership of Chicago youth, whose movement for a racially equitable and just Chicago is going to transform our city, and their futures. Participants will be asked to be ready to make a sustained commitment towards strengthening current efforts or kick-off new alliances to fight for increased public and private investments that build equity, create job opportunities and provide access to capital, fully funded schools, free comprehensive health care and political power.

All Chicagoans are invited to participate in NDORH 2021.  In solidarity, we can transform Chicago, change narratives, and spark institutional and policy changes that empower Black and Brown Chicagoans toward resilience and self-sustainability.
